News on Wilco

You may have heard that Wilco will be making a stop in Spokane on Aug. 21 at the INB performing arts center. But another interesting tidbit is that the band will be performing at the Jackson Hole Music Festival in Wyoming on Aug. 16-17.

But the kicker is that Son Volt also will be there.

If you didn’t know, Son Volt and Wilco are the offspring of the seminal alt-country band Uncle Tupelo. The split was anything but amicable. And while I think there has yet to be any -- even brief reincarnation of Uncle Tupelo -- this may be the place to see it. I’ll be crossing my fingers. For more information, go to www.festivalnetwork.com/events/details.php?ID=43.

Also Seattle's Fleet Foxes will open for Wilco in Spokane. The band recently played the Sasquatch Music Festival not once, but twice when they filled in for the National on the main stage. To check out their "baroque harmonic pop jams" go to myspace.com/fleetfoxes.
