GEORGE — You wouldn't think an acoustic guitar duo would be a big draw at a massive indie and rock festival where big names like The Cure, R.E.M. and the Flaming Lips garner the most attention.
But Rodrigo y Gabriela aren't your average guitarists.
The pair of Mexicans, who live in Dublin, quickly turn into a four-piece band when you see that their guitars double as pulsating percussion instruments as well.
Add that to the blazing speed and precision of the fingerpicking, and they showed those at Sasquatch they can rock with the best of them.
I was hoping to hear their cover of "Stairway to Heaven," but I ran over to catch Seattle's Cave Singers.
But with hearing the incendiary picking on "Diablo Rojo" and "Orion" I was all right.
