GEORGE — I watched a crew of workers in orange jumpsuits begin to prop up a massive red, yellow and blue circus tent Saturday at Sasquatch.
Today, I went back to see what it was all about. Three agents in orange guarding the front entrance. I should have known it had something to do with the Flaming Lips.
By now, big posters outside were announcing what was going without saying it.
One guard told me the band was premiering its long-awaited movie "Christmas on Mars." She said it would be playing at midnight tonight, then at 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Anyone crazy enough to do that has to be quite a fan. But just as I was asking this, at 6:30 p.m. a line of about 15 people had formed. These people are willing to sacrifice seeing Death Cab for Cutie, The Cure, Michael Franti and Steve Malkmus.
Crazy. Especially when a raw experience is forgoed for one you'll be able to buy on DVD.
