The annual Sausage Fest opens with a corn-shucking contest at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 in the schoolyard at Christ the King Catholic School in Richland.
The official opening of the festival is at 5 p.m. with a Boy Scout color guard ceremony. The day wraps up at midnight but continues from 11 a.m. to midnight Sept. 20.
There's plenty of free parking and admission also is free. The festival has been a mainstay fundraiser for the Catholic school for about two decades, drawing thousands of revelers from all over the Mid-Columbia.
Festivities include live entertainment, arts and crafts booths and more sausage than you can handle.
